HIGH-LEVEL FORMAT

The high-level format is one that makes the system, eg MS-DOS, when we introduce the command format c:. With this order, the operating system initializes the disk area that comprises the C: partition, setting the default value of its contents and creating tables that will eventually hold information on how and where within that partition will be stored files.

In a high-level formatting, the OS will create all these specific data structures in the area comprising the partition to format.

sectors are actually physically larger than 512 bytes as they include sector numbers,(cyclicredundancy check crc) bytes and synchronization fields,which indicate the correct speed at which to read data off at the disk. these additinal bytes are not included in the quoted figure for overall storage capacity of the disk.
to complicate matters, different low-level formats can be used on the same (recording medium media) for example ,large records can be used to cut down on inter-record gap size.

Una particion de disco duro esta definido como un espacio de almacenamiento en una unidad de Disco duro.La mayoria de sistemas operativos permite dividir un disco duro en multiples particiones. En efecto creando un fisico disco duro dentro de diversos pequeños discos duros.
